


Jonas Hellborg (born 7 June 1958) is a Swedish bass guitarist. He has collaborated with John McLaughlin, Ustad Sultan Khan, Fazal Qureshi, Bill Laswell, Shawn Lane, Jens Johansson, Anders Johansson, Ginger Baker, Michael Shrieve, V. Selvaganesh, Jeff Sipe, Mattias IA Eklundh, Public Image Ltd, Devin Townsend and Buckethead.

In the 1980s, Jonas Hellborg had a trio with Ginger Baker and Bernie Worrell. Over 30 years later, Hellborg has released an album by the group, “The Concert of Europe.” We caught up with him to get the scoop in this interview.

Jonas Hellborg and T.M. Stevens were testing some amps at Warwick, and then this happened.

During the 2012 Musikmesse show, bassists Lee Sklar, Steve Bailey and Jonas Hellborg took the stage, along with drummer Chester Thompson. Bass awesomeness ensued. The song was written by Sklar and Bailey, who hadn’t named it yet (maybe you can suggest a name in the comments for them).
