


James Robert Haslip (born December 31, 1951) is an American bass guitarist who was a founding member of the jazz fusion group the Yellowjackets, which he left in 2012. He was also an early user of the five-string electric bass.

Saxophonist Randal Clark paid tribute to the great David Sanborn, who passed away on May 12th. Clark enlisted bassist Jimmy Haslip, keyboardist Scott Kinsey, and drummer Zach Danziger to perform “A Tear For Crystal,” written by Sanborn and Marcus Miller.

Jimmy Haslip currently holds the bass chair for the legendary Jeff Lorber Fusion group. Here they are at Jazz Kitchen, and Jimmy solos on the track “What’s The Deal?” from the “Prototype” album.

The trio of Barry Coates, Jimmy Haslip, and Jerry Kalaf have teamed up to release an album called “New Dreams.” The instrumental band creates rich atmospheres and ambience across its eight tracks.
