Renegade Creation is a blues-rock supergroup formed in 2010 that brings together four undisputed giants of the Los Angeles session and touring scene. The powerhouse quartet is fronted by legendary guitarists Robben Ford and Michael Landau, who share vocal and six-string duties, creating a rich, twin-guitar dynamic rooted in their shared rock and blues influences. Holding down the low end is foundational bassist Jimmy Haslip, who was instrumental in originally assembling the lineup after decades of crossing paths with Ford and Landau in the industry. Rounding out the rhythm section is veteran drummer Gary Novak, cementing a formidable unit capable of blending high-octane rock with sophisticated jazz-fusion sensibilities.
The group made its official debut with its self-titled album, Renegade Creation, released in 2010 via Blues Bureau International. Driven by Haslip's deep, intricate grooves and Novak's precise timekeeping, the record provided the perfect pocket for Ford and Landau to trade fiery solos and craft textured, moody compositions. They followed up with their sophomore effort, Bullet, in 2012, further solidifying their reputation as a premier live and studio act. Rather than resting on their individual laurels as elite session players, the members of Renegade Creation built a cohesive, band-oriented sound that highlighted their deep musical camaraderie and extensive collective discography.
